Background
The Institute for Innovation in Business and Social Research (IIBSoR) was created in 2009 as a Research Strength of the University of Wollongong. The Institute recognises and brings together the important work done in this field by three outstanding University of Wollongong Centres:
- Centre for Business Services Science (CBSS)
- Market Research Innovation Centre (MRIC)
- Centre for Applied Systems Research (CASR)
Purpose
The key objective of IIBSoR is to develop and validate innovative and reliable qualitative and quantitative measures for business and the social sciences.

Research
Current research projects include:
- the development of new ways to measure brand image;
- determining marketing methods to identify and recruit successful foster parents;
- evaluating strategies for identifying tourism target markets;
- designing models for managers to visualise how resource decisions will affect each step of a complex manufacturing process; and
- the development of new methods for understanding passenger experiences of public transport systems
